If you have time, add to 8 cups boiling water stir for 5 minutes, ladle soup into French Onion soup bowls. Cover soup with croutons or French baguettes slices. smother soup with Gruyere or Mozzarella cheese, adjust oven rack 6 inches from broiler. Broil until cheese is melted and bubbling around edges. ADD water if too thick
FRENCH ONION SOUP in the INSTANT POT
Prep time: 5 minutes Instant Pot time: 3 minutes
1) Pour the tube of soup mix into the inner pot.
2) Add 8 cups of boiling water (or to the 2/3 max line, add the rest of the water at the end). Stir.
3) Press “Sauté”, stirring the soup until it starts to bubble.
4) Press “Cancel”, put the lid on, close the steam vent.
5) Press “Soup”, select 3 minutes.
Use natural release or quick release. Top a slice of bread with grated cheese, put on a cookie
sheet and broil until bubbling! Fill bowls, top with broiled bread and cheese – or simply top with croutons!
