It's official, winter is here and it’s time to get serious about soup-making. Does anybody else love, love, love the delectable combination that is creamy and spicy? Our soup is a #GarlicLover’s dream! As the cold weather rolls in, who isn't craving simple warm soups. This one is easy and delicious! If making this for a family, we suggest doubling the recipe, as it disappears faster than you can shake a stick! In a large soup pot, add 8 cups cold water and stir in contents of your Roasted Garlic & Creamy Mushroom Barley Soup.Bring to a boil and reduce heat, simmer, stirring frequently. Cook until the flavors are thoroughly combined, at least 30 minutes. At this point, add 1/3 cup heavy cream, stir in gently. You can also add 1/4-1/2 cup sherry. Taste and season with salt and pepper if desired When plating soup, lightly top with fresh thyme and parsley. Make sure to have your #GarlicVinegar handy, so your guests can add generous portions of garlic to their soup. Make sure to pick up some crusty bread or baguettes from the store. In the early 1990's, Jennifer opened a soup, chesse cake and latte deli on the ever popular Granville Street. Jennifer's on Granville became one of Vancouver's TOP 10 Soup Deli's! Here are a few pictures from the early 1990's! Our soups were sold out by 3 pm every day! BTW that is Jack Nicholson with Al and Bet Middler with Jennifer! Our tortilla soup or sopa de tortilla is a traditional Mexican soup served corn tortilla pieces, submerged into a broth of tomato, garlic, onion, and chile de árbol! What makes all of our soups special? We’ve pre-soaked & dehydrated the beans for a quick 30 minute meal! If you're in a rush, simply add this bag of gourmet soup to 8 cups of boiling water. Remove the chili peppers at your desired heat spiciness! And ENJOY! If you have a few minutes, dice up a large onion, add a generous helping of butter and saute until soft. You can add 2-3 cups of fresh hamburger and the thinly sliced pork and cook until well done. With out removing from heat, add 8 cups of boiling water and all the contents of this bag into your pot! For milder soup, remove chili peppers and add a teaspoon of brown sugar. Bring contents to a boil again, add a 28 oz diced or plum tomatoes, turn down and simmer for up to 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Meanwhile, on a rimmed baking sheet, toss tortilla strips with 2 teaspoons oil. Bake at 400 until crisp and golden, about 8 minutes, tossing halfway through. Or, simply use purchased tortillas of your choice from the store. Divide tortilla chips between bowls and ladle soup over; top with cheese, avocado, more tortilla chips, sour cream and fresh cilantro! Serve with lime wedges on the side. Meat variations: Chicken, Beef and Lamb. Camping/Bachelor/Bachelorette Version: Add this bag to 8 cups boiling water, stir frequently and enjoy in 30 minutes!
